Staying power for mid-career professionals
I write for the middle of a career. The part after you have proved yourself and before anyone calls you senior, when the advice runs out and the work gets harder to explain.

## What people say.
In their words
- > Really enjoyed your session! I realized that many of the decisions I've made in the past actually align with the 4C framework you explained, though I hadn't consciously used a framework at the time.
**Malay Kumar**Presales Head, Solugenix, after a session
- > I came expecting career advice, but got something better. The formula isn't magic, but it's honest. And honest is rare.
**Bookish Brain Shelves**Amazon reviewer, Purpose Has A Pattern
- > Some books don't just give you ideas, they shift the way you think.
**Vidhya Thakkar**Goodreads reviewer, Purpose Has A Pattern
## Purpose isn't discovered. It's constructed.
The argument
You don't need to know your destiny. You need to pick a direction, stay with it long enough to accumulate expertise, and commit even when it's unglamorous.
[The book that argues it](https://anubulusu.com/books/purpose-has-a-pattern)
direction + time + commitment = purpose

For years I softened every message and apologised for existing in someone's inbox. What changed when I stopped.

2. ### [From imposter syndrome to absorber syndrome](https://anubulusu.com/writing/absorber-syndrome)
A judge ruled that AI companies can buy a book, feed it to a model and profit from what they learned. What that does to the people behind the spark.

Love was the easy part. Getting a seat at the table took years. On the difference between being liked and being respected.

4. ### [Follow your passion is overrated](https://anubulusu.com/writing/follow-your-passion-is-overrated)
The worst career advice you can give? Follow your passion. A grid that taught me the difference between what fulfils you and what pays you.

## The things people ask first.
Questions
### Who is Anu Bulusu?
For 20 years, I have worked across corporate leadership, entrepreneurship and business transformation. I wrote Sticking On, Purpose Has A Pattern and Accumulate, and I am the founder of L5. Two more books are in progress.
### Who do you write for?
I write for the middle of a career. The part after you have proved yourself and before anyone calls you senior, when the advice runs out and the work gets harder to explain.
### You have three books out. What is each one arguing?
Sticking On is a radically honest guide to navigating career growth as a woman, without the gloss, the guilt or the pressure to play by someone else's rules.
Purpose Has A Pattern argues that success is not a miracle. It repeats, it has a shape, and the shape can be learned by anyone willing to read their own record honestly.
Accumulate argues that a career is a portfolio of five capitals, and that if the only capital you are building is financial, the asset you are wasting is time.
### What is the weekly?
Pieces written by me, sent by email when they are published. No round-ups, no links, no course at the end of it. You can leave in one click.
### Do you speak at events?
Yes. Keynotes, working sessions, panels and conversations. The speaking page has the formats.
### Where are you based?
Between Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Hyderabad, India, where I grew up.
